1968 Plymouth Hemi Road Runner for sale. The Muscle Car Era was in full swing, GTO's, 442's, SS Chevelles and Mach 1 and Boss Mustangs cruised the streets. They "rumbled" in and out of A&W's, White Castle and local hamburger joints across the country. It was the meeting spot where car guys met and compared cars and their performance at the track and sometimes on the street. It was a simpler time when a production muscle car, a tank full of gas and a few dollars in your pocket was all that was needed to have fun on a Friday or Saturday night.

All of the "Big Three" were completing for their share of a growing market. For years Dodge and Plymouth were famous for their Super Stock cars and the 413's. In 1966 there came a change from Dodge and Plymouth camp with the introduction of the "Street Hemi". It was seen in a limited number of Belvederes, and Coronets in '66. In '67 two new models hit the street from Mopar. The Dodge Coronet R/T and the Plymouth GTX both with optional Hemi motors, the stage was set!

BAM!,  1968 Dodge and Plymouth hit hard with Dodge's Scat Pack Group and not to be out done Plymouth joins forces with Warner Brothers and the "Road Runner" was born! Car enthusiasts were astonished at this new car hitting the Plymouth dealerships, something never before seen. A true factory prepared "Muscle Car" with a Cartoon character's name and logo! It was designed as a "spartan" prepared car. A "B" body car that came stock with a 383 CI, and most often with a four speed transmission. A vinyl "taxi cab styled" bench seat, rubber floor mats, push out rear windows, factory steel wheels with "dog dish hub caps. It was designed to grab the young market and to be QUICK! The Hemi was the ultimate motor to cradle into that engine compartment and the results were AWESOME!
