1953 Studebaker 2 Door Coupe Street Rod for Sale
Professional frame-off restoration with updated Mustang II
front independent suspension, 8" Ford rear end with 3.25 gear ratio detailed
and painted frame, new aluminum gas tank, 1986 Chevy Corvette 350 motor has
been updated with all new parts, including new Edelbrock pistons, cam,
lifters, Performer aluminum intake manifold, 600 cfm Edelbrock Performer
Carb with Edelbrock aluminum heads with headers and custom exhaust system
producing 420 hp. This Studebaker is equipped with a 4-speed Corvette T10
transmission, new brake system including 8 in. vacuum booster with Corvette
master cylinder, disc brakes on front, and drum brakes on rear.
Fiberglass front clip (fenders, hood, stainless steel grille,
bumper), new base coat clear coat paint job (color 2005 PT Cruiser Hawaiian
Orchid) with doors, hood, and trunk shaved. Dakota Digital remote control
electric windows and modified dash with all new VDO gauges. The interior is
charcoal leather bucket seats and carpet including the trunk with leather
and carpet. 12V battery system is located in the trunk with emergency shut
off switch.
This is a beautifully modified Raymond Lowery design that
inspired the Studebaker Hawks of 1955-1963. The car was bought in 1995 from
a classic car dealer in Rapid City, ND who had acquired the car in an estate
settlement a month earlier. The original owner purchased the car new in
1953 and it remained in the same family until 1995.
Dave Olenchak and Wayne Shaffer, car builders in Minneapolis,
MN, area, completed the chassis modifications, engine rebuilding,
restoration and painting in December 2003. Always garage kept and never
driven in inclement weather, the car has accumulated less than 2,500 miles
since December 2003, and has been generally driven only about 25 miles per
month to maintain the car's systems in good working order. The car has been
displayed at various car shows and is much admired!
New modifications in 2005: New paint, Summit high torque
starter, new battery, new Flaming River Rack & Pinion steering box with
Borgeson U Joints, complete underbody and frame detail with new front
springs, all new gaskets, belts, hoses, and stainless steel gas lines, new
valve covers, air cleaner, wires, catch tank, new alum water pump, new Perma
Kool auto fan cooling system, new Torque Thrust II wheels with Cooper Cobra
Radial Tires.
